Correct, it's Post-Ascension unless you get a runner in the shiver peaks zone.
I would play throught the game and not short-cut but that's just me.

i got run there for 2k but the monsters there is so damn hard lvl 24 and there all in a huge group that is hard to avoid from aggro them

They're not hard if you ascended and picked up all those nice skills along the way.

The whole pass isn't as bad if you get a group of even just henchies from Camp Ranik and work your way back. Hell I was about to clear all of snake dance with just the healer henchies and One warrior.
